Evento bilaterale Italia-Canada - Sviluppo di nuovi biopesticidi
Agricultural crop production suffers from serious economic losses due to stresses: biotic and abiotic. Synthetic pasticides have been the main tool for controlling diseases caused by microbes and damage caused by insects, but it have negative effects of chemical residues harmful to human health. Modern integrated crop management and "low input" agriculture focus in the reductionof pesticides or other chemicals in order to establish a sustainable agroecosystem.
The two institutions invelved in this project are leader in the field if biological control. They study the fundamental processes of beneficial microbe-plant interactions, and develop new biological products based on selected strains, microbiomes and bioactive metabolites.
